Plutographa erytema, spec. nov. (fig. 29, 50)
Female 15 mm. Head pale ochreous. Antenna fuscous, scape pale ochreous. Palpus rather
long, slender anteriorly, abruptly dilated and triangular at top of median segment, terminal segment
very slender and short, exposed; light ochreous, top of median segment suffused with black, except
white extreme edge, terminal segment black. Thorax chestnut-brown, in centre tinged paler greyish-
tawny. Abdomen fuscous brown, base pale fulvous.
Fore wing oblong-suboval, costa curved throughout, more so at base, apex slightly promi-
nent, obtusely pointed, termen sinuate above rounded beneath, vertical. Rather deep chestnut-brown,
darker towards dorsum, marked with whitish marblings, light ochreous and paler tawny. Basai patch
almost to 1/3 on costa with two paler greyish pairs of costal strigulae and towards base with some
round greyish-tawny spots; a light ochreous semioval rising spot on middle of dorsal edge, with
base slightly extended along dorsum; edge of basai patch broadly rounded, well defined, with a
small projection just below fold; a grey-tawny transverse band at 2/5, on costa with two pairs of
small white strigulae, continued as grey zigzag lines, forming a pale grey marbling, not reaching
middle of wing; an oblique clavate deep chestnut patch from middle of costa, not reaching middle
of wing, slightly constricted below costa, with a small posterior process above its end, opposite
this patch a triangular pale spot on dorsum before middle, posterior half of costa with five larger
pairs of pale ochreous strigulae, last one preapical, vertical, largest; apex filled out by a round glossy
orangeish spot; an irregular light ochreous spot below 3/4 of costa, in middle of wing invaded by
dark chestnut ground colour, tending to form longitudinal oblique striae. Tornal area occupied by
the rounded ocelloid spot, pale ochreous, turning white anteriorly and below, with two approxi-
mated blackish strigulae at top; edges of spot metallic-silvery mixed with leaden-grey, posterior
edge preceded by a leaden-grey line. Cilia dark tawny and grey.
Hind wing semipellucent, pale greyish-brown, apical fourth suffused with deep bronze, basai
pair of costa greyish-white. Cilia pale fuscous with a golden gloss and a pale basai line.
Female genitalia. Sterigma broad but depressed, densely punctulate and aciculate, stronger
so laterad, except the extreme lateral edge, side lobes obliquely pear-shaped in front. Ostium small,
lamella antevaginalis a single transverse band; colliculum with upper half strongly constricted, with
a thickened wall, lower half sclerotic, oblique, irregularly oval, centered with a small funnel-shaped
sclerite. Ductus bursae rather short and wide, quickly dilated, corpus bursae ovoidal, with a finely
reticulate wall.
Madagascar Centre : Est du lac de Mantasoa, forêt d'Ambohiboatavo, 1 340 m,
III-1973 (P. Griveaud & A. Peyrieras), 1 female, holotype, GS 10923.
A chestnut tinged species, marked with light ochreous, instead of black and white,
as e.g. P. transversa Diakonoff. Distinct by colour and markings, as well as by the genitalia.
Plutographa dyspotma, spec. nov. (fig. 30, 55)
Female 15 mm. Head white, vertex suffused with dark grey. Antenna fuscous, scape white.
Palpus moderate, slender and smooth at base, median segment abruptly dilated, triangular, slightly
roughish along edge, terminal segment very slender, rather long, porrected; white, darkly infusca-
ted towards apex below and at apex, terminal segment slightly infuscated. Thorax (damaged) black,
tips of tegulae white. Abdomen dark grey, venter silvery grey.
Fore wing suboval, rather broad, costa curved throughout, more so at base, apex slightly
prominent, rather pointed, termen sinuate above, rounded beneath, vertical. White, marked with
purplish-black. Costa with a semioval black spot reaching to 1/4, below reaching to base of fold;
remainder of costa purplish anteriorly, becoming jet-black posteriorly, with some eight pairs of thickish
silvery-white transverse strigulae, becoming less oblique posterad, last one subapical; a large, slightly
undulate longitudinal black patch, extending along posterior 2/3 of disc, narrowly connected by
a light purplish suffusion with the spot along base of costa; posterior end of patch running obliquely
upwards and filling out posterior fourth of costa and apex, and limiting an oblong spot of ground
colour below médian half of costa, that is slightly dusted and marked with purplish; a semioval
black spot along basai 1/4 of costa, almost reaching to fold at base; a large black longitudinal patch
occupying center of disc, from 1/3, running at 2/3 of wing, thence to posterior fourth of costa and
filling this and apex; upper edge of patch well defined limiting an oblong subcostal white patch
slightly touched with light purplish, its lower edge slightly more suffused, with two rounded projec-
tions at 1/3 and in middle of wing, both traversing fold, largest one almost reaching middle of dor-
sum; posterior edge of patch connected by a dark grey suffusion with upper half of dorsum; a series
