dusted except along broad edges to markings, with pale tawny, markings black. Basai patch to 1/3
of costa, edge moderately oblique to middle of fold, thence inwards-oblique, patch below fold obli-
terate ; this patch on costa with two faint whitish oblique transverse line anterior of these continued
to an acutely-triangular tooth of ground colour rising from dorsum and separating above base of
dorsum a rounded jet-black spot (a portion of basai patch) ; a large semioval costal patch occupying
more than third fourth of costa, reaching to middle of disc, with some four white small lines on
costa ; this spot preceded by one, followed by three rounded-triangular dots alternating with small
strigulae, ultimate dot apical; a subtriangular spot opposite upper half of termen and a larger, less
regular subtriangular spot on end of dorsum ; traces of silvery metallic lines edging dark markings
on posterior half of wing ; broad spaces of pale ground colour dusted with pale tawny, yellowish
and blackish scales; several grey transverse lines posteriorly, ultimate subterminal (termen rather
rubbed) ; traces of grey transverse strigulae along anterior half of dorsum and a triangular grey spot
centred with white, in middle of dorsum. Cilia (imperfect) whitish, black bars along base.
Hind wing blackish-fuscous, cilia with a pale basai line.
Female 18-20 mm. Palpus creamy, lower half of median segment black, otherwise as in
maie. Markings similar, but more extended, formed by black marbling mixed with brown. Basai
patch almost complete, except posterior half of dorsal third, which is formed by ground colour,
including two blackish spots; edge of patch acutely angulate in fold, reaching beyond middle of
fold, upper part of edge concave, costa black throughout, eut by pairs of white strigulae; posterior
half of wing with more distinct shining silvery metallic streaks, one edging costal and dorsal spots,
two following forming together a large oval ocellus, upper half of which is occupied by preterminal
dark spot ; wing between these streaks suffused with brighter ochreous ; a zigzag white subterminal
streak edged with silvery, extreme termen ochreous. Hind wing and cilia pale grey. Abdomen
dark fuscous. Otherwise as male.
Maie genitalia. Tegumen rather broad, dilated. Uncus sclerotic, broad, top strongly cur-
ved. short-furcate, tips obtuse, a median notch, projecting upper angles and arms flat, porrected
and rigid. Socii long, rigid, pointed and sclerotic, porrect, sparsely bristled. Subscaphium hand-
shaped, sclerotic laterally, membraneous mesally. Valva slender, curved, sacculus short, bristled
simply ; a small knob-shaped harpe with a spoon-shaped top and a single bristle. Cucullus strongly
bristled and spined along lower half of ventral edge, coarser bristled along apical half. Aedeagus
moderate; cornuti a sheaf of spines.
Female genitalia. Eighth segment collar-like, more or less sclerotic, sterigma moderately
sclerotized. Ostium and colliculum cylindrical, the latter more or less constricted in middle. Lamella
postvaginalis large, transversely extended, broad and band-like, upper surface a triangular aciculate
concavity, lower with a deep notch in which fits colliculum. Signa two, hooked and slender, almost
equal with small basai plates.

Male 16 mm. Head light cream-coloured. Antenna whitish. Palpus moderate, slender along
basai half, apical half dilated triangularly, apical segment almost concealed, drooping; pale tawny,
apical segment creamy. Thorax creamy, tegulae and apex of segment tawny-ochreous, shoulder
with a fuscous spot. Abdomen pale ochreous, dusted and faintly banded on dorsum with dark fuscous.
Fore wing rather long, moderately dilated, costa curved throughout, more so towards base,
apex obtusely pointed, termen sinuate above, rounded below, slightly oblique. Creamy, sub-
pellucid and greyish posteriorly, densely suffused and marked with deep purplish-fuscous. Costa
blackish, with indistinct grey strigulae, two larger pairs at 1/4, followed by an oblong-triangular
