2(1). Distalmost pale marking of wing consisting of more or less cuneate mark exten-
ding well basad on wing.
3 (4). Pale marking extending from C in pterostigma posteriorly at least into discal
cell, there nearly or quite connected with strongly oblique pale marking conti-
nuing to posterior wing margin well apicad of level of fa; face dully shining,
at magnification of 80 x with weakly developed mesal groove and oblique
rugulosity; forefemur below with only fine and short setae S. kaplanae, sp. n.
4 (1). Pale marking extending from pterostigma continuing posteriorly as essen-
tially straight crossband or interrupted and separated from similar but inver-
ted pale posterior mark.
5 (6). Pale mark extending from pterostigma completely across wing as essentially
straight crossband ; legs blackish except basai part of tarsi ; face dully shining,
at magnification of 80x with minute granulosity ; forefemur below with com-
plete row of long setae, several of them longer than height of femur. S. fasciata, sp. n.
6 (5) Pale mark extending from pterostigma into discal cell separated from similar
inverted cuneate pale mark in posterior part of wing ; forelegs with tips of mid-
and hindtibiae brownish ; face and forefemur not known in detail
S. azurea (Hendel), Comb. Nov.
Seguyopiara fasciata, sp. n.
The only differene I can discern between S. fasciata and the description of Tra-
phera azurea Hendel lies in the coloration of the legs and the pattern of the wings, although
the latter is quite distinct.
Legs wholly purplish black, except yellowish mid- and hindbasitarsi (in Traphera azurea the
forelegs and tips of hindtibiae brownish). Wing spots 6, as described for T. azurea, but one pair
connected to form complete, medially only slightly narrowed, band extending to posterior margin
of wing a short distance apicad of tip of vein Al. Wing regularly elliptical, maximal width 2.55 mm,
total length 5.8 mm. Face minutely granulose. Forefemur with ventral row of setae in entire length,
at least 6 of them longer than height of femur. Details of face and setation of forefemur of T. azurea
unknown.
Holotype male, Cameroon : 20 km S of Bamenda, 22.XI. 1987, 1 800 m (A. Freid-
berg) ; same data, 1 paratype female and 1 paratype female with same data except collec-
ted by Fini Kaplan; 35 km S of Bamenda, 1 700 m, 16.XL 1987 (A. Freidberg), 1 paratype
female; Nigeria : NE State, 10 mi N of Somar, 10 March 1970, 3000 ft (J.T. Medler).
The holotype and other Cameroon specimens are in the Tel Aviv University collec-
tions ; 1 paratype collected by Freidberg and the Nigérian specimen are in the collections
of the (U.S.) National Museum of Natural History.
Seguyopiara kaplanae, sp. n.
This species is distinguished from S. apicalis by the présence of an apical pale mar-
king in the wing extending well toward the base of the wing and from S. fasciata and S. azurea
(Traphera) by the nature of the other pale markings on the wing, as in the foregoing key.
Body black with slight bluish glint, except yellowish 2 basai segments of mid- and hindtarsi.
Face fairly dull with weak mesal groove and oblique rugulosity easily perceptible at magnification
of 60x. Wing basically dark piceous brown with whitish pattern consisting of narrowly cuneate
curved mark extending basad from close to C and barely entering tip of cell Ry ; broadly cuneate
mark from C in basai half of cell R3 and ending at vein M; cuneate mark virtually filling cell R1
(pterostigma), extending to discal cell and there usually narrowly connected with slender arcuate
mark extending to posterior wing margin almost at level of tp; small equilaterally triangular mark
based on vein R1 and with apex on Rs shortly before its fork; and large area in most of cell BCu
and all of cell A. Crossvein ta at basai 1/4 of discal cell. Wing considerably narrowed basally.
at level of tip of Sc 0.6 of maximal width farther apicad. Total length of wing 4.4 mm.
