This is a Pan-Tropical species, widespread not only in Africa but also in the Caribbean (Mexico and Florida included), the Far East and southem Europe (Baz, inprep.). Badonnel (1949) recorded it on weaver bird nests from Ivory Coast. Complète synonimies of this species can be found in Badonnel (1977).

6 — Ectopsocus titschaki Jentsch, 1939.
Material examined : Equatorial Guinea, Rio Muni, Asonga, 2 males and 15 fema- les, 15-VIII-1987, V.J. Monserrat leg.
This species was originally described from Berlin on the basis of individuals caught on orchids coming from Venezuela.
It is also known from several localities in West Africa (Ball, 1943 ; Badonnel, 1949, 1955 as E. gabelensis, 1969), Palawan, Hawaii (Thornton & Wong, 1968), and in the American Tropics from Puerto Rico, Trinidad, Surinam, Guiana, French Guiana and Brazil (Mockford, 1965). Mockford (1974) recorded the species from Martinique, Dominica, Mexico, Guatemala and Cuba. More recently it has been found in Spain on leaf litter (Baz, 1989).
Badonnel (1949) recorded this species on weaver bird nests from Ivory Coast with Rhyopsocus afer and Nanopsocus oceanicus. Thèse species seem to be associated with bird nests in Africa and form a characteristic fauna of this habitat.
