- We seek approximated solutions of Bürgers equation by means of a "mixed" asymptotic method involving both the method of multiple scales and the method of strained coordinates. The main point is the introduction of a new slow variable. For an emitted nonchromatic wave, the method yields a simple and complete description for small and moderate Gol'dberg numbers. For higher Gol'dberg numbers, the solution is valid up to the shock formation and it can be matched with known solutions beyond.

- The polarized Raman spectra of ultra-thin films are studied in the 2,800-3,000cm-1 region as a fonction of the thickness of the films. The changes observed are related to the orientation of the molecules near the solid surfaces limiting the films. This effect exists for molecules with or without a polar head and its influence can be felt up to a distance of 100 nm.

- Interactions of ethylenediaminediaquoplatinum (2+)[Pt (en)(OH2)2]2+ with a tetrapeptide, model of the metallothionein, have been investigated by one- and two- dimensional 1H N M R technique. In aqueous solution, the overall results suggest that Pt (II) forms a 1: 1 complex involving the two -S-CH3 groups of the cysteine residues in position 1 and 4.

- The direct observations of the sea bottom with the two new Soviet submersibles 6,000 m (MIR-I and II) during the 15th cruise of the R/V Akademik-Mstislav-Keldysh, have allowed specifying the geological context of TAG hydrothermal area and the nature of the neovolcanic ridges between 26°N and 23°N along the Mid-Atlantic ridge. In addition, the submersible observations or the rock samplings by dredges specify the lithology of the median valley walls in different places. On the eastern wall near 26°N (TAG area), gabbroic rocks and a dyke complex are in the middle of the slope. At 23°50'N, metagabbros and metabasalts in the greenschist facies are present on the NE wall of the nodal basin (west intersection Kane F. Z.). On the western wall near 23°22'N (Snake Pit area), a serpentinite dome with some basalts just above is coupled to the wall. These observations show the considerable variability of the lithology of the median valley walls, which represents different tectonic and/or magmatic constraints along the Mid-Atlantic ridge.

- The Moussa group, situated on the southern Gibraltar strait, is an element of a passive divergent margin. Paleostructural framework consists of tilted blocks individualized during the subsidence evolution:
- - The two Thethyan rifting episodes are recorded by the initial subsidence which took place from the middle Liassic to Malm.
- - The Atlantic rifting phase is responsible for the lower Cretaceous subsidence (thermal subsidence). Lithostratigraphical sequences and previous paleostructural framework suggest a sketch of a pure extensional margin similar to that of the eastern European margin of the western Alps. We postulate that the above corresponds to the eastern Iberian margin.

- Test vermiculites were set in the different horizons of a subalpine spodosol for a stay of either seven winter months or a year. The results show that the complexing activity of the eluvial horizons, which can be regarded as a criteria for podzolisation, is much higher in winter than in summer.
