- Granular media are studied here from the homogenization theory point of view. The main interest of this paper is to establish rigorously the relationship between microscopic and macroscopic kinematic variables in a dense collection of rigid particle.

- The purpose of this work is to give a numerical method of solving the Odar and Hamilton equation for various asymptotic particle Reynolds numbers thanks to an improved treatment of the non-linearities. The method is validated of the motion of a particle, initially at rest, accelerated, under the effects of bulk forces. For smaller asymptotic particle Reynolds numbers, the numerical solution tends to the exact solution of the Basset-Boussinesq-Oseen. We therefore show evidence of the influence of the memory term. For asymptotic particle Reynolds number greater than unity, the method is compared to a more straightforward solution and to recent experimental results.

- A new development of the spectral moments method is reported. It is applied to the calculation of electromagnetic wave diffraction by dielectric devices of any shape. A first application is performed with a circular cylinder and comparison with the analytical response highlights the accuracy of the method. Another application is performed with a square cylinder of arbitrary orientation vs. the propagating direction. It shows the powerful calculation potential of the method.

- A polymer coil brought suddenly into poor solvent conditions (by cooling) should evolve to a globular form via two steps: 1) formation of pearls-especially from the ends; 2) when the pearls have coalesced, Ostwald ripening of the remaining solvent "bubbles" in a matrix of semi-dilute polymer. We produce tentative estimates for both times, assuming that the final globule is not glassy

- With the aim of studying the feasibility of sensors using NiTi films, we made NiTi/Si(n) structures. NiTi films were deposited by r.f sputtering on silicon substrates heated at 150°C. I(V) measurements show that the NiTi/Si contact has a rectifying behaviour. The barrier height was found to be 0.64 eV for a NiTi film containing 49% of Ni. Electrical measurements, at different temperatures, have shown a peculiar behaviour of the NiTi/Si diode. This phenomenon seems to be due to the phase transformation of the NiTi electrode.

- Dendrimers, the first perfectly defined synthetic macromolecules (polydispersity: 1.0), resemble biological components (proteins, enzymes, viruses, neurones) through their sizes, shapes, topologies and fractal surfaces. They are built generation after generation according to the genealogical mode and their synthesis recalls the principle of DNA replication. Suitably functionalized dendrimers can mimic the antibodies of glycoproteinic type against cold virus. They could also be used for biomimetic catalysis, drug transport, gene- and anticancer therapies, recognition of DNA branches, detection and quantification of some viruses including AIDS.

- A kinetic study of the reactivity of
-aminonitriles in the presence of H2O2 in aqueous basic conditions allows determination of the experimental conditions for selective hydration of -aminonitriles.

- Mixed copper-iron oxalate particles generated in a hydroalcoholic medium show several noticeable characteristics. Two distinct formed of copper oxalate and of almost copper-free iron oxalate, appear during nucleation. The further growth of the iron oxalate particles precipitates accompanied by a redissolution of copper oxalate is leading to submicronic mixed copper-ixon oxalate particles with a composition gradient, provided the mixing characteristics were suitable. An appropriate heat treatment of these particles yields acicular copper ferrite particles, isomorphous to their pecursors, the coercivity of which was clearly volume dependent.
